If your are sad the first question you have to ask is whether the event that triggered sadness wasn’t a favorable one. Sometimes it is. Sometimes only the meaning that we ought to attribute to the event is what makes us sad.

For instance, I once heard that in Ireland a burial should be a happy event as the deceased exits the torments of the real world, and everybody is obliged to participate in dancing, singing, drinking, prasnowvat. I don’t know whether this is really true, but it’s imaginable at least.
